Beckhoff Embedded Controller
The CX series DIN-rail-mounted controllers feature a compact design and can be integrated with a wide variety of I/O modules to form a complete industrial control system that fits neatly into control cabinets, occupying very little space. Each user can find the most suitable embedded controller from Beckhoff’s extensive embedded product portfolio—customized precisely according to budget, performance level, and the complexity of the control task. In addition to their CPUs, each controller in the CX series offers different system interfaces and power supply models, enabling them to be interconnected flexibly and configured as a modular control system tailored to specific tasks. As a result, different applications can be implemented on the same hardware platform—for example, a PLC and motion control system equipped with DVI/USB interfaces and running either Windows CE or Windows Embedded Standard, or a multimedia system featuring audio interfaces.

For example: CX9020

The CX9020 is a compact Ethernet controller designed for DIN-rail mounting, featuring a 1 GHz ARM Cortex™-A8 processor. The interface for connecting to Beckhoff I/O systems is directly integrated into the CPU module. The device includes automatic recognition of the bus system (K-bus or E-bus) and can switch between the corresponding modes accordingly. The CX9020 comes equipped with one CPU, two microSD card slots, built-in RAM, and 128 kB of NOVRAM as non-volatile memory. Standard features also include two switched RJ45 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and one DVI-D port. The RJ45 ports are connected to a built-in switch, enabling users to easily create a linear topology without the need for an additional Ethernet switch. The operating system is Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7. With TwinCAT automation software, the CX9020 system can be transformed into a powerful PLC and motion control system, operable either with or without visualization capabilities. When ordering this series of embedded controllers, you can choose to equip them with fieldbus interfaces, serial interfaces, or audio interfaces.
The wide temperature range of -25 to +60 °C enables these controllers to be used in environments with extreme temperature variations.
