The increasingly integrated functions of sensors and actuators are making machines and systems more powerful. Thanks to their modular and compact design, bus terminal modules can effectively meet the growing demand for I/O signals. The highly compact KMxxxx terminal modules—with their high packaging density—further expand the existing bus terminal module system. In many application fields, costs can be reduced by minimizing the overall installation footprint and by mixing signals according to specific application requirements.
Beckhoff bus terminal modules are an open, flexible I/O system suitable for all common fieldbuses. The wide variety of electronic terminal blocks covers all I/O channels required in automation applications—from digital and analog interfaces to serial interfaces. By selecting from a broad range of signal types, we can tailor a specific solution precisely to your needs.
This new type of terminal module is fully compatible with the system. Like bus terminal modules, KM modules are independent of specific bus communication protocols, allowing them to be used simultaneously with any Beckhoff bus coupler or bus terminal module controller. Similar to the use of standard bus terminal modules, KM modules are integrated into the I/O system and connected via the internal terminal module bus (K-bus). Bus terminal modules and various other terminal modules can be freely combined.
The wiring method is the same as that for bus terminal modules; no tools are required to connect the KM module. However, spring-type terminal blocks must be used in conjunction with connectors.
This terminal module integrates 16, 32, or 64 digital inputs or outputs in a compact space. Its compact, lightweight design achieves high packaging density, enabling smaller footprints for control cabinets and terminal boxes.

Digital input
KL1052 | 2-channel digital input terminal module, 24 V DC, positive/negative switching
The KL1052 digital input terminal module receives binary control signals from the processing layer and transmits these signals to higher-level automation units in an electrically isolated manner. The KL1052 can be connected to either the positive terminal of a sensor or to 0 V (ground). Each bus terminal module contains 2 channels, each equipped with an LED that indicates the status of its respective signal.

Digital output
KM2002 | 16-channel digital output, 24 V DC, 0.5 A
The terminal module KM1002 features 16 digital output points, with one pluggable connector connecting every 8 channels. It boasts an extremely compact design and high installation density. Binary control signals are transmitted to the actuators in the processing layer while maintaining electrical isolation. Like standard bus terminal modules, the KM terminal module is integrated into the I/O system. Connections are made using spring-loaded pluggable connectors, available in either 1-pin or 3-pin versions. Each connector incorporates an LED that indicates the signal status of every channel on the cable.

Analog input
KL3044, KL3054 | 4-channel analog input terminal module, 0/4…20 mA
The KL3044 and KL3054 analog input terminal modules are used to transmit analog measurement signals to automation devices in an electrically isolated manner. The input electronic circuit is separated from the supply voltage of the power contacts. The ground connection serves as the reference potential for the inputs. A fault LED indicates overload conditions; additionally, the fault LED on the KL3054 can also indicate open-circuit conditions. The KL3044 and KL3054 terminal modules each feature four channels.

Analog output
KL4404, KL4408, KL4434, KL4438 | 4/8-channel analog output terminal module, -10/0…+10 V
The KL4404, KL4408, KL4434, and KL4438 analog output terminal modules are designed to output signals within the range of 0–10 V or –10–+10 V. These terminal modules provide electrically isolated signals with a resolution of 12 bits for the processing layer. In the KL4404 and KL4434 bus terminal modules, four output terminals are configured in a 2-wire design. The KL4408 and KL4438 feature eight channels and are particularly well-suited for installation in control cabinets to save space. The single-wire connection technology minimizes the space required when connecting multi-channel actuators.
The bus terminal module has a common ground terminal. The power contacts are connected together. The reference ground for the input terminals is the 0V power contact. The LED indicator shows the status of data exchange with the bus coupler.
